21 men executed in various prisons
According to information obtained by Hengaw:
at dawn on January 25:
- Amin Motamedi, 28, a Lor man from Yasuj, was executed in the prison of Yasuj on charges of murder. Motamedi had been arrested five years ago following a fatal altercation. A source told IHR: “Amin was 23 at the time of arrest. That day, he was going to his sister’s house on his motorbike when he sees someone harassing his niece. The perpetrator attacked Amin with a knife and was killed in the struggle that ensued. Amin was transferred to the gallows on two previous occasions in the last two years but he was able to obtain extensions each time. In the three days leading up to the execution, Amin’s family made extensive efforts to convince the plaintiffs to forgo their right to execution, and even the prison governor and officials responsible for carrying out the sentence met with the victim’s family in order to encourage them to accept diya and grant forgiveness. However, the victim’s family rejected the offer of diya and insisted on the execution being carried out as soon as possible”.
- Ebrahim Abdoli, 51, fa Turkish man rom Tabriz, was executed in the prison of Tabriz on charges of murder. Abdoli had been imprisoned for approximately seven years;
- Bahram Haddadshakari (Bahram Hadad Shokri), 28, a Turkish man from Ardabil, was executed in the prison of Ardabil, on charges of murder. Haddadshakari had been detained for three years after killing a friend during a verbal dispute;
- Ali Moradi was executed in Zahedan Prison on murder charges;
- Mohammad Nouhani (Mohammad Nokhani), a 47-year-old Baluch father from Dashtiari who resided in the Bahukalat region, was executed in Zahedan Prison on murder charges. He had been arrested 12 years ago. Mohammad was executed without prior notification, depriving him of a last family visit.
At dawn on January 24:
- Sajad Farhadpour, 27, from Khomein, was executed in the prison of Khomein on murder charges. According to a source: “Sajad was arrested for killing someone during a street fight in Khomein. He had previously been taken to the brink of execution twice. The first time was in May, when, following mediation by community elders from Khomein and Aligudarz, he was returned to the ward. The second time was three months ago, when the victim’s family announced they would grant forgiveness in exchange for 30 billion tomans (approx. 170,000 euros) in blood money. However, despite great efforts and public support, Sajad and his family were unable to raise such a large sum, and his sentence was ultimately carried out.”
- Najafali Sagvand (Najaf Ali Sagvand), 32, a Lor man from Khorramabad, was executed in the prison of Parsilon in Khorramabad. Sagvand had been imprisoned for four years on murder charges
- Taleb Mohammadian, from Semnan, was executed in the prison of Semnan. Mohammadian had been detained for three years on charges of rape
At dawn on January 22:
- Hossein Banoure from Dezful, was executed in Dezful Prison on murder charges. Banoure had been incarcerated for approximately three years;
- Behrouz Tahami, 44, from Ahvaz, was executed in Dezful Prison on murder charges after being been incarcerated for approximately five years;
- Mohammadkarim Najafi was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on murder charges;
- Amir Moghaddam was executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on murder charges;
- Behzad Ranjbar, 24, was executed in Semnan Prison on murder charges. According to IHR, the execution was on January 19. Per informed sources, Behzad worked in a restaurant and was arrested for allegedly killing another individual during a street fight two years ago;
- Jahangir Farazi, 40, from Damghan, was executed in Semnan Prison, on murder charges, after 5 year of detention. According to IHR, the execution was on January 19.
At dawn on January 11:
- Baniamin Nobakht, 27, was executed in Semnan prison on murder charges after 3 years of detention;
- Ali Asadpour was executed in Semnan prison on murder charges. According to sources, Assadpour, a car painter, had got into an argument with a customer over payment;
- Ali Shahgholi, 28, from Sorkh Hesar (Qaleh Hassan Khan), was executed in Qom prison on murder charges. Shahgholi had been imprisoned for about four years
- Siamak Rouzbeh, 32, from Andisheh near Tehran, was executed in Qom prison on murder charges. Rouzbeh had been imprisoned for about two years.
At dawn on January 8:
- Asghar Kaffashi, 24, from Amol, was executed in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz on charges of armed robbery
- Shahin Bibak, 22, from Amol, was executed in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz on charges of armed robbery
- Mohammad Malekizadeh, 30, from Shiraz, was executed in Adelabad Central Prison in Shiraz on charges of armed robbery. Malekizadeh had been imprisoned for about two years
Sources said these executions were carried out secretly and without allowing final family visits.
None of these executions have been publicly announced by Iranian state media.
