16 January 2008 :
the Jeddah Court in Saudi Arabia reopened the case of Faisal Al-Otaibi (Abu Kab), the joy rider who was convicted of killing three children in his car as he was performing a driving stunt. The Jeddah Court, which had handed the death sentence to the accused in its earlier verdict, was ordered to re-examine the case as the Court of Cassation repealed the death sentence by the lower court as being too extreme for the crime. Though the Jeddah Court began looking into the case, the judges adjourned the case to January 20, Al-Otaibi’s lawyer, Khaled Abu Rashed, told Arab News.(Sources: Arab News, 14/01/2008)
