June 1, 2026 - IRAN. Hassan Tahmasebi and Kouhyar Abbasi executed in Qorveh on June 1
Iranian authorities executed two prisoners, Hassan Tahmasebi and Kouhyar Abbasi. According to information obtained by the Hengaw Rights, the executions were carried out at dawn on June 1, 2026, in Qorveh Central Prison.
The two men, identified as Hassan Tahmasebi, 52, and Kouhyar Abbasi, 37, both from Qorveh, had been sentenced to death on charges of aggravated rape of a 14-year-old child laborer. Iranian judicial authorities also accused them of filming the abuse for the purpose of blackmail and extortion.
Tahmasebi and Abbasi were arrested in late August 2024 following an investigation into the case of Farid Sadeghi, a 14-year-old child laborer from the village of Chamgholu Ganji in Qorveh. The young Sadeghi died by suicide on Aug. 12, 2024, after enduring more than a year of sexual abuse, psychological pressure and financial extortion by the two men.
