On the morning of October 15, 2025, Nahid Hemmati, a female inmate, was executed in Nahavand Prison. She was charged with drug-related offenses. State-controlled media have not reported her execution.
With the execution of Nahid Hemmati, the number of women executed in Iran since the beginning of 2025 has reached 41, setting an unprecedented record for female executions in the country. Last year, a total of 34 women were executed in Iran.
According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at least 304 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
