EXECUTION AWAITS BULGARIAN DRIVER IN IRAN
January 28, 2009: A Bulgarian truck driver who had been missing for four
months has been located - in an Iranian prison, awaiting his execution due to
drug trafficking, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Zhivko Rusev, aged 55, from the town of Galabavo,
had been arrested in September near the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz by the local
anti-drug police services. A package of 135 kilograms of heroin
was found in his truck.
The Bulgarian authorities have been working on the case since they have been
informed, a FA ministry spokesperson said. This was yesterday, though.
All along the driver's daughter in Bulgaria
had thought that her father had abandoned her and settled with a Russian woman
in Armenia,

The case with the death-sentenced Bulgarian driver could be discussed during
the visit of Iran's deputy
