the Court of First Instance in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, sentenced a Pakistani to death. During
an earlier court hearing, the 24 year old Pakistani claimed he needed money to
pay for his sister's wedding.
He allegedly murdered a 32 year old Nepalese security guard while attempting rob a showroom.
"The suspect stabbed the victim three times in his chest and eight times in the back ... he also battered his head with a hammer," said Ahmad Murad Ahmad, Assistant Chief Prosecutor. It is the first capital punishment the court has pronounced in more than three years.
The panel of judges were unanimous, according to presiding judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm.
