YEMEN: COURT UPHOLDS DEATH SENTENCE AGAINST FIRST CONVICT OF 2ND SANA'A CELL
January 26, 2009: the Yemeni Appeal Court upheld a death
sentence against Jaafar al-Mirhabi of the "2nd Sana'a cell" and
jailed other 12 members of the cell. The cell was convicted forming an armed
group and killing two security officers. The trial of the group started in July
2007. They were also accused of publishing internet statements under the name
of Islamic Jihad Organization informing that they committed attacks in Sana'a
and Hadramout, and threatening to target several governments of foreign
