An Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) in Quetta on 30 June 2022 awarded a double death sentence to four accused of kidnapping and murdering a minor child.ATC judge Abdul Majeed Nasar announced the verdict regarding the conviction of the five accused involved in the heinous crime.
According to court sources, four accused identified as Dawood Shehzad, Mehdi, Iftikhar, and Muhammad Baqir were handed down death sentences twice in the kidnapping and killing case of the 10-year-old boy. Similarly, another accused Roohullah was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.
Zahid Ali Khan, the deputy district prosecutor pleaded the case in the court on behalf of the provincial government.
The accused had kidnapped the 10-year-old minor, identified as Sher Ali Hazara, from Quetta's Hazara Town on February 10, 2021.
The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs30 million from the family members of the child. However, the parents had refused to pay the ransom and subsequently the body of the boy was found in district Pishin of the province
Levies shifted the body to district headquarters hospital Pishin which was handed over to the heirs after the completion of legal formalities.
The incident had sparked outrage on social media with people demanding the police and levies to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
The police had also registered a case against the accused in the Brewery police station.
