Tran Van Khoa, a 50-year old Vietnamese man convicted of the murder of his grandfather, was executed in the central Binh Dinh province.Khoa had been sentenced to death in 2002 after the provincial court established he had severely beaten his grandfather, aged 104, after drinking too much alcohol.
Tran Vinh died later in a local hospital. Khoa told the police he had killed the old man because he "had lived too long and had received too many financial favours from his children and grandchildren," the court added.
