The Supreme Court today rejected the appeal brought forward by the four policemen sentenced to death over the murder of two youths in Angulana back in 2009. The four convicts had appealed to the Supreme Court requesting that their death sentences be reduced to a more lenient sentence. Former OIC K.W. Newton, Police constables Galhenage Kumarasiri, Dhammika Jayaratne and Civil Defence Force member Janapriya Senaratne were found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt for the dual murder of Dinesh Tharanga Fernando and Dhanushka Aponso on August 12, 2009.(Sources: Adaderana.lk, 02/04/2014)
