Nguyen Thanh Vu, a 27 year old man convicted of raping and murdering a seven year old girl in southern Vietnam, was sentenced to death by the provincial People's Court in the southern Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang. After raping the victim - the niece of his adopted father - on 25 March 2003, Vu strangled her and then dumped her body in a nearby canal, AFP reported.(Sources: Agence France Presse, 01/09/2003)
