01 September 2003 :

Nguyen Thanh Vu, 27, was sentenced to death by the provincial people's court in the southern Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, Vietnam, after being found guilty of murdering and raping a seven-year-old girl.
It was reported that after raping the victim - the niece of his adopted father - on March 25, 2003, Vu strangled her and then dumped her body in a canal. He was arrested by police a day later.
