Cao Duc Bao, a 42-year-old Vietnamese man, was executed by firing squad in Hanoi after being convicted of murdering his friend during a drunken quarrel. Bao was blindfolded and tied to a stake at the Cau Nga execution site before being put to death. He had been sentenced to death in 2001 for killing his drinking companion in December 2000. His appeal for clemency had been rejected by President Tran Duc Luong.(Sources: Agence France Presse, 31/05/2003)
