A Vietnamese man was sentenced to death for murdering and robbing a motorbike taxi driver in the central province of Lam Dong.
Truong Quoc Viet was found guilty by a court in the hilltown of Dalat for stabbing to death Nguyen Ngoc Linh, 43, in November 2002, and stealing his motorcycle and other personal effects, a local policeman said.
The man, who had previously served 12 years in jail for another murder, was arrested the following month in the southern business capital of Ho Chi Minh City.
It was not clear when Viet would be put before the firing squad. Prisoners condemned to death in this communist nation are usually kept on death row for at least a year before being executed.
