ZAMBIA: TWO ARMY OFFICERS SENTENCED TO DEATH

Two Zambia Army officers have been sentenced to death by hanging for murder and aggravated robbery.
Lusaka High Court Judge Edwin Sikazwe sentenced Festus Shandulu and Namushi Ngundamai both of Luena Barracks in Kaoma, Western Province of Zambia.
On July 29th 2009 the two convicts acting together with other persons unknown did attack and stole about Nine Hundred and Fifty Million Kwacha from a Finance Bank vehicle which was ferrying salaries for government officers.
At the same scene the gang also murdered Chishimba Chisala and Chrispin Mushela both employees of Finance bank who were transporting money from ZANACO in Mongu to Finance Bank in Kaoma.
In passing judgment, Judge Sikazwe said he had no option but to sentence the duo to death following proof beyond reasonable doubt that they committed aggravated robbery and killed two people.
