USA - Florida. The Florida Supreme Court is ordering new sentencing hearings Tiffany Ann Cole because a jury did not unanimously recommend the death penalty

03 July 2017 :

The Florida Supreme Court is ordering new sentencing hearings Tiffany Ann Cole because a jury did not unanimously recommend the death penalty, in what are now often referred to as "Hurst motions". The state court said anyone sentenced after a 2002 ruling could be eligible for a new sentence. Among those getting a new hearing is Tiffany Ann Cole, 35, White. She was convicted in the July 8, 2005 murders of Reggie and Carol Sumner, both 61, who were buried alive. She was sentenced to death on March 6, 2008 (see) after a jury voted 9-3 on death on both counts of murder against her.
