The Alabama Senate voted 30-1 SB 16 to end the practice of allowing judges to overrule jury sentences in death penalty cases. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 8 (see), and now moves to the House of Representatives.(Source: AP, montgomeryadvertiser.com, 23/02/2017)
