Two men were sentenced to death for possessing 113 kilograms of heroin with intent to sell.
Thitichote, alias Thong, Kangwansirichote, and Piya, or Ahua, sae Sui, both 24, were arrested in the Laksi area on January 10, 2000. Police later searched their Land Rover, left by Piya in a parking lot at Don Muang airport. Five suitcases containing 113kg of heroin were found.
Another suspect, Udom Jai-rakkaona, 63, was arrested about two months later. He was believed to have supplied the heroin to Thitichote and Piya.
The Criminal Court found Thitichote and Piya guilty and sentenced both of them to death. However, Udom was acquitted for lack of evidence.
