TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: MAN TO HANG FOR KILLING BOY

03 April 2014 :

The death sentence was read to a Chaguanas man at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain after he was found guilty of murdering a 13-year-old boy in 2006.
Ronald Bisnath, remained expressionless as Justice Devan Rampersad told him he will be taken to a lawful place of execution where he will suffer death by hanging.
The 12-member jury deliberated for just about one hour before returning with the guilty verdict, convicting Bisnath, 40, of murdering Parmanand “Boyo” Persad, a pupil of Chaguanas Junior Secondary School, in October 2006.
Persad’s body was found in the bathroom of a partially built house at Crown Trace, Enterprise.
His throat had been slit. At the time of the murder, Bisnath and the boy were neighbours.
After the guilty verdict was announced, Bisnath was asked by the judge if he wished to say anything prior to sentence being passed, to which he refused.
His attorney, Amerelle Francis, also chose not to say anything after the delivery of the verdict.
State attorneys Brent Winter and Riveta Persad prosecuted the matter.
