an army major and an accomplice convicted of running a drug racket were sentenced to death for killing two anti-narcotics policemen in a shootout at a Bangkok apartment complex in Thailand on April 12, 2007. The Criminal Court also ordered Major Chanon Chinnawong and Withoon Niyakij to each pay Bt3 million to the families of the slain officers.(Sources: The Nation, 22/07/2009)
