SOMALIA: AL-SHABAAB MEMBER EXECUTED WITHOUT TRAIL AFTER MILITARY COURT ORDER

A 21-year-old man suspected to be member of Al-Shabaab was shot to death in Dayniile district where he was caught by the Somali armed forces.
The Somali Military Court sentenced Nour Abdale Awale to death after the security forces in Dayniile arrested him and seized a mortar shell and other ammunitions he was possessing. The executed young man was also accused to be the mastermind of an attack launched on Dayniile district.
The Military Court had issued an emergency order allowing military personnel to execute him on the spot without taking him to court proceedings.
Present during the court’s verdict were Chairman of military’s lower court Col. Liban Ali Yarow, Banadir region security Chairman Mohamed Abdikadir and Col. Abdirahman Mohamed Turyare, who was recently named as head of the Supreme Military Court of Somalia. The execution order of the Military Court came a day after the deadly attack by Al-Shabaab fighters on Somali Federal Parliament complex.
The attack has claimed the lives of more than 10 people and injuries of dozens of people including 2 legislators. Col. Liban Ali Yarow said that the court had issued the execution order after Nur Abdale Awale confessed all the allegations crimes he committed.
Col. Abdirahman Mohamed Turyare added, “From today, everyone confirmed and convicted of guilty of being one of the militant group of Al-Shabaab, will not be given a chance and will be executed in the spot where he is being caught.”
