SAUDI ARABIA: MUM'S APPEAL TO HELP SAVE SON FROM GALLOWS

a Saudi mother is racing against time to collect donations to pay blood money and save her only son from the gallows after he was sentenced to death for murder. Umm Issa, 43, said she had so far secured SR2.5 million ($675,000) of the SR four million ($1.08 million) requested by the victim’s relatives to pardon her son, the Arabic language daily Sabq said in a report from the northern town of Tabuk. Issa was sentenced to death for killing a man during a fight in the town nearly five years ago.
