Pong Ketsiri, 64, was executed by a firing squad in a Bangkok prison after being convicted of smuggling 275lb of heroin into Thailand. Pong was arrested in 1995 after being implicated by the crew of a fishing boat on which the heroin was seized off Thailand's coast in December 1994.Pong was the eighth convict executed since Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra took power in February, vowing to crack down on the drugs trade.
