PAKISTAN: 5 KIDNAPPERS AWARDED DEATH

In Pakistan, an anti-terrorism court awarded death sentence to five persons on charges of kidnapping a doctor and receiving Rs 60 million ransom for his release.
The court has awarded death sentence to Malik Shahid Ahmed, Malik Bashir, Bilal alias Billo, Kamran and Kashif.
The court has also directed the authorities concerned to confiscate movable and immovable assets of the convicts.
The convicts had kidnapped Dr Muhammad Arshad and his driver Khalil Ahmed from Township in January 2010. Later, they had released them after receiving Rs 60 million.
After this, police had registered a case against and managed to arrest the gang in November 2010.
Convict Malik Shahid organised his gang by inviting job seeking youths through newspaper advertisements. More than 32 cases registered against them in different police stations of the country.
