MOROCCO. HUGE AMNESTY SIGNALS HISTORIC DAY

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has pardoned almost 9,000 prisoners, on the occasion of the birth on February 28 of his daughter Lalla Khadija, the Justice ministry affirmed.
Morocco's minister of justice, Mohamed Bouzouba, appeared on nation-wide television announcing the biggest ever royal pardon for 8,836 prisoners, including 14 people sentenced to death.
This was taken as a clear sign here that the day of the formal abolition of the death penalty in Morocco is fast approaching.
