MOROCCAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING EU DIPLOMAT AND WIFE

a Moroccan court sentenced a man to death for killing an Italian diplomat and his Belgian spouse.
Alessandro Missir di Lusignano, an official attached to the Commission's delegation in Rabat, and his wife Arianne Lagasse de Locht, a Belgian, were found dead in their home in Rabat on September 19, 2006.
The defendant, Karim Zimach, 25, who was arrested a day later driving the couple’s car, was also sentenced to pay nominal damages of one MAD (10 cents US). Zimach confessed to committing the two crimes under the effect of drugs and was charged with premeditated intentional manslaughter, grand larceny and drug consumption and smuggling.
