MALAYSIA. COOK GETS DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

a 59-year-old cook was sentenced to death by a HighCourt in Malaysia after he was found guilty of trafficking in 1.4kgof heroin eight years ago.
Justice Datuk Wan Adnan Muhamad sentencedTan Kok Tiong from Penang to the gallows for committing the offencein front of the Samila Hotel in Lebuhraya Darulaman on Dec 18, 2000.
He was originally jointly charged with Teoh Kheng Boo, 50, also fromPenang, with committing the offence. However, only Tan was ordered toenter his defence at the end of the prosecution's case last year.
Teoh was sentenced to 18 years’ jail on July 24, last year, afterhe pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of possessing the same amountof drugs under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
