LIBYA. PARLIAMENT CONDEMNS EU OVER HANDLING OF MEDICS' CASE

14 March 2007 :

The Libyan parliament has approved a resolution slamming a EU campaign for the release of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor sentenced to death in Libya on charges they deliberately infected 426 Libyan children with the HIV virus, Tripoli's official news agency JANA reported.
In its first 2007 ordinary session on March 11, the Libyan parliament condemned "the hideous crime committed against the children and expressed solidarity and support for them and their families."
The Libyan parliament "stressed the principles of mutual respect, non-interference in other countries' affairs or the questioning of their legal and judiciary systems," Jana also reported.
