two of the prisoners, aged 28 and 30, were hanged in Rasht’s central prison on charges of “Unlawful Acts Against Sharia Law”, the Judiciary of Gilan Province announced. In the Islamic Republic’s Penal Code, “Acts Against Sharia Law” is a general term used for a number of acts that are considered unlawful according to the Sharia Law. The specific charges of the 2 men hanged in Rasht are not clear.
Four other prisoners were hanged in Bandar Abbas on March 2 for drug trafficking, reported the official website of the Iranian Judiciary in the Province of Hormozgan. They were convicted of armed drug trafficking of 966 kilograms of opium. The prisoners were identified as M. R., H. A., A. P. and Y. A., and were sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Roudan.
