BANGLADESH: SEVEN PEOPLE SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER

A district Court in Bangladesh awarded death penalty to seven people and jailed two others for life in over sensational Abdul Jabbar murder case.
Additional District and sessions Judge Reza Md Alamgir Hasan passed the order at noon.
They also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default to serve additional six months imprisonment. 
Another two was acquitted from the case.
The death convicts are Rafiqul Islam, son of Ghaura Mamud of Dangapara village of Kishoreganj Upazila, Tulab, son of Amin Uddin of the upazila, Atahar Ali, son of Joban Ali of Khata Madhupur Union of Sayedpur upazila, Mohsin Ali, son of late Omar Ali of Purbapara of Joldhaka upazila, Abdur Razzak, son of Majibur Rahman of Uttar Kuthipara village of Kishoreganj upazila and Mintu Miah, son of Shahida Rahman of Manthana village of Rangpur Sadar upazila.
Rafiqul Islam, son of Siraj Uddin of Khata Madhupur Union of Sayedpur upazila and Afisar Rahman got life-term imprisonment.
Earlier on July 28, 2008 police recovered the body of Jabbar from Nyan Khal of Nitay Union in Kishoreganj.
Deceased’s son Abdus Salam filed a case against 12 people in connection of killing Jabbar over a dispute centering land property.
