BANGLADESH: MAN TO BE HANGED FOR KILLING WIFE 13YRS AGO IN NATORE

A Natore court on January 12, 2024 sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in Singra Upazila of the district 13 years ago.
The Judge Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Muhammad Abdur Rahim passed the verdict in absence of the convict.
The court also fined the convict Tk 30,000.
The convict was identified as Farhad Hossain Mondal of Bashbaria village of the upazila.
According to the prosecution, Farhad Hossain used to torture his wife Fatema Khatun frequently for dowry since their marriage.
In the night of December 7, 2011, he beat his wife indiscriminately, leaving her death on the same night.
Later, he went into hiding.
Nur Islam, father of the deceased, filed a case with Singra Police Station on the following day. 
Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges accusing Farhad Hossain.
