BANGLADESH: 5 SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING GAZIPUR TRADER

A Gazipur court sentenced five people to death for killing a trader in Kaliganj upazila of the district in 2008, reports UNB.
The condemned convicted are Saddam, Babu, Shamim, Nurul Islam and Majnu. The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each.
Of them, Saddam and Babu were present on the dock when the verdict was pronounced while Shamim, Nurul and Majnu are on the run.
According to the prosecution, the five accused, residents of Brahmangaon village in Kaliganj upazila, beat Mahiuddin, a trader, to death as a sequel to a clash over purchasing a mobile phone set in 2008.
Later, a case was filed with Kaliganj police station in this connection.
After examining all witnesses and documents, judge of Additional District and Sessions Court-1 Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan handed down the verdict.
