AFGHANISTAN: WOMAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER OF HUSBAND

The Preliminary Court of Kabul's Zone 4 sentenced to death a woman for colluding with her lover to murder her husband.
The head of the court said that evidence shows that the woman, who served as a high school principal, killed her husband on the night of the Islamic religious holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Dismissing the verdict of the court, the woman said his husband was killed by thieves.
"I swear to the Quran that I am not involved in my husband's murder," said Qadria, the woman.
The woman's secret lover is said to have left the country after assisting her in the murder. However, the woman dismissed the relationship, saying she was only in contact with him via telephone.
Meanwhile, the victim's brother asked law enforcement to implement the court's verdict.
"I want the responsible organs, especially the judiciary, to punish soon this woman who killed my brother," he said.
The woman is said to had lived with her husband for 16 years. But as the relationship deteriorated, she is said to asked for divorce several times.
