A convicted drug trafficker was executed by a firing squad at the Bangkwang Maximum Security Prison, raising to six the number of drug convicts executed since Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's government took office in February.
Suchart Thaokhamthong, 50, had been arrested at Laksi Temple in Bangkok with 45,000 methamphetamine tablets. The Supreme Court upheld the lower court's ruling that he had possessed the drug with the intention of selling and confirmed the his 1996 death sentence.
