A special POCSO court in Sambalpur on October 1st, 2024 sentenced a man to death for raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl in Jamankira area of Sambalpur.

The Putrajaya Court of Appeal on August 26, 2024 commuted the death sentence to 40 years in prison for a man who murdered his mother and dumped her body in a septic tank six years ago.
