April 10, 2026 - Nebraska. Jason Jones sentenced to death
A man was sentenced for a quadruple homicide in a small Nebraska town.
Jason Jones, 46, White, was sentenced to death by a panel of 3 judges for the murder of 4 people in 2022.
In September 2024, Jones was convicted of 10 felonies, including 4 counts of 1st-degree murder. He was additionally found guilty of 4 counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony and 2 counts of 2nd-degree arson. In addition to the death sentenced, Jones got 3-4 years in prison for each of his 2 arson charges. He was also sentenced to 40-50 years for each of his 4 firearm charges.
Jones set fires at 2 Laurel homes on Aug. 4, 2022, after killing the residents: Gene Twiford, 86; Janet Twiford, 85; Dana Twiford, 55; and Michele Ebeling, 53.
He was later arrested at his Laurel home, where he was found with severe burns. He was taken to a hospital before being lodged in jail.
Jones’ wife, Carrie Jones, is also charged in the case. She was sentenced to life in prison in November for the 1st-degree murder of Gene Twiford.
Carrie was also sentenced to 5-10 years for tampering with physical evidence and 16 to 20 years for being an accessory to a felony.
Jones becomes the 12th man on death row in Nebraska.
