June 18, 2026 - Missouri. Kenneth Simpson sentenced to death on June 18
Judge Craig Hellmann sentenced Kenneth Simpson to death.
A Franklin County jury has recommended the death penalty on January 30 (see).
Simpson received the death penalty for fatally shooting police officer Sgt. Mason Griffith in March 2023.
Simpson was previously charged with 9 felonies related to killing Griffith and seriously injuring officer Adam Sullentrup, including 1st-degree murder and 1st-degree assault. A judge denied a motion for Simpson to have a 2nd trial in early May.
He was sentenced to the death penalty, life in prison and an additional 74 years in prison.
Sullentrup sustained serious injuries and spent 7 months in the Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital.
