July 26, 2025 - Florida. Shelby Nealy sentenced to death
A Pinellas County jury recommended the death penalty for Shelby Nealy with an 11-1 vote.
Nealy is already in prison, serving a 30-year sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter for killing his wife, Jamie Ivancic in Pasco County in January 2018.
in January 2018, during an argument, Nealy strangled and beat his second wife, Jamie Ivancic, 21. He buried her body in the backyard of their Port Richey home, and acted as nothing had happened. During the investigation, officials learned that after Nealy killed Jamie, he posed as her by sending texts and photos of their 2 kids to her family to pretend she was still alive. When her family grew suspicious, Nealy traveled to their home in Tarpon Springs (Pinellas County) and killed Jamie’s father, Richard Louis Ivancic, mother, Laura Ann Ivancic, and brother, Nicholas James Ivancic. Nealy was arrested in Ohio in 2019, where the bodies of Nealy’s in-laws and 3 dogs were discovered on New Year’s Day. Less than a week later, a 4th body connected to the case was found near a Port Richey (Pasco County) home. Investigators later identified the remains as Jamie.
In 2023, Nealy pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a weapon for Jamie’s death, reduced from the original 1st-degree murder charge, and he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
He also plead guilty to killing 3 members of her family, and today the jury recommended that Nealy be sentenced to death. Formal sentencing will occur at a later date.
