May 15, 2025 - Florida. Ryan Cole, 33, White, sentenced to death
A Charlotte County jury recommended a sentence of death for the September 26, 2019 murder of a 15-year-old boy, Khyler Edman, during a burglary. The defendant stabbed the young teen to death. Cole was accused of breaking into Edman’s Port Charlotte home and fatally stabbing the teen as he shielded his 5-year-old sister. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Cole then burglarized a 2nd residence and was discovered behind the home.
The judge will make the final ruling on whether Cole is sentenced to life in prison or the death penalty. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 17, 2025.
