December 5, 2025 - Florida. Donovan Faison sentenced to death

A judge on December 5 sentenced Donovan Faison to death after he was convicted of killing his pregnant girlfriend when she refused to get an abortion.

At a hearing Dec. 5 in Sanford, Circuit Judge Donna Goerner sentenced Faison on the three charges to: Death for first-degree murder, Death for killing of an unborn child, Life in prison without parole (the maximum sentence) for burglary of a vehicle with an assault or battery. A Seminole County jury had recommended the death penalty for Faison on October 30 with an 11-1 vote (see HoC). In Florida, at least 8 of 12 jurors must vote in favor of the death penalty after finding at least 1 aggravating factor.

The case stems from the November 2022 shooting death of Kaylin Fiengo, who was found shot in her car. Fiengo was 18 years old and pregnant when she was killed.

Prosecutors presented evidence that Faison killed Fiengo because she refused to terminate her pregnancy.
