the division bench of Chhattisgarh high court

17 October 2013 :

the division bench of Chhattisgarh high court, in India, upheld the death sentence to a man for brutally killing his wife and three innocent children in Durg district in March this year. The HC also awarded a death sentence to an accused in a similar case of Ratanpur.
Hearing a petition pertaining to the death sentence awarded by the district court of Durg, the division bench of Chief Justice Yatindra Singh and Justice Pritinkar Diwakar, upheld the decision of lower court to award death penalty to Dhaal Singh Devangan who was found guilty of stabbing his wife and three daughters to death in March 2013.
District court of Durg had found him guilty and sentenced him to death. The accused, however, challenged the verdict of district court in HC which subsequently quashed his petition.
The division also confirmed the death sentence to Manoj Suryanshi, a resident of Ratanpur town in Korba district, who was found guilty of killing his neighbour's three children on February 11, 2011. Neeta Yadav sentenced him to death and forwarded the case to the Bilaspur high court for the confirmation of sentence.
