the Additional Sessions Court in Thalassery, India, sentenced to death Raju alias Samuel, 45, under IPC Section 302 (murder). Raju had been convicted of strangling to death a 17-year-old girl after raping her and also robbing her of gold ornaments while she was on her way back home on October 11, 2001.
