six drug traffickers were executed by firing squad in southern Vietnam as part of the communist regime's continuing crackdown on the narcotics trade.The six, aged between 34 and 44, were put to death at dawn at An Giang province's Chi Lang execution ground. They had been sentenced to death in February 2003 after being convicted of trafficking in nearly 40 kilograms (88 pounds) of heroin and around 1,000 ecstasy tablets into Vietnam from Cambodia between 1998 and 2000.
