PAKISTAN TWO BROTHERS EXECUTED IN SAHIWAL JAIL FOR MURDER

13 June 2007 :

two brothers, Aslam Iqbal and Arshad Iqbal, were hanged in the central jail in Sahiwal, Pakistan, for killing their uncle Zafar and his 6 family members over a dispute over 6 acres of land at Chak 17-SP, Pakpattan on April 22, 1993. They were awarded the death penalty on six counts and fined Rs. 160,000 each by the Judge Muhammad Sharif of Special Court Multan on August 2, 1993. The High Court Multan Bench confirmed the death penalty of both convicts on July 23, 2001 against which their appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court on October 10, 2005.
