PAKISTAN: LAHORE COURT CONFIRMS DEATH FOR WOMAN MINISTER'S KILLER

the Lahore High Court upheld the death sentence given to a radical shopkeeper who killed a woman minister in Pakistan's Punjab province because she was not dressed in accordance with the religious code. Ghulam Sarwar, a hardware shop owner in Gujranwala who is alleged to have killed 12 prostitutes, had shot dead Zille Huma Usman on Feb 20 when she was in a 'kutchery' meeting people who had come to get their complaints and problems resolved. The 36 year old mother of two belonged to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Qaid. Sarwar later confessed to the crimes.
