On November 14, the Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) urged President Narayanan to commute the death sentences awarded to the four. The DK's Central Executive, which met under the presidentship of its General Secretary, K. Veeramani, at Mayiladuthurai, in a resolution, pressed for deletion of the death penalty, as its presence in the statute book was undesirable.
