a man identified as Packi, alias Packianathan, of Shenbaganur in Kodaikanal, India, was sentenced to death. He was arrested on for the rape and murder of a four year old girl at his residence on November 25, 2003. He was also sentenced to seven years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 for suppression of evidence, and life imprisonment plus a fine of Rs.5,000 for rape and sexual abuse.(Sources: The Hindu, 27/02/2007)
