Khan Muhammad Chachar was sentenced to death by the additional district and sessions judge of Karachi South, Pakistan, Manawar Sultana, on the charge of murdering the former chairman of Pakistan Steel Sajjad Hussain. Chachar and absconding co-accused Zulfiqar Ahmed Mirza, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Salahuddin and Sohail were charged with the murder of Sajjad Hussain on September 11, 1998. Asif Ali Zardari, husband of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was acquitted in the case on August 13, 2003 by ADJ- South Karachi Abrar Hussain, observing there was no evidence on record against him.
