December 17, 2025 - IRAN. Razieh Abbasi executed in Ghezel-Hesar on December 17

Iranian authorities have carried out the execution of Razieh Abbasi, a 40-year-old woman sentenced to death on a charge of murder, at Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.

According to information received by Hengaw, Abbasi was executed in the early hours of December 17, 2025.

She had been arrested on accusations of killing her husband. Abbasi was held at Qarchak Prison in Varamin and was transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison shortly before the execution.

Iranian state media had not reported the execution.

Data recorded by Hengaw show that at least 52 women have been executed in prisons across Iran during the current calendar year. Another source, Wncri writes that with the execution of Razieh Abbasi the number of women executed in Iran in 2025 has reached 61.

According to data recorded by the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (Wncri), at least 324 women have been executed in Iran since 2007.
