March 12, 2026 - IRAN. More than 100 security forces killed in Sanandaj

Iranian media have so far refrained from reporting these casualties.

Detainees transferred to detention facilities in Hamedan Province

Informed sources told Hengaw that more than 100 security personnel were killed during the bombing of security institutions in Sanandaj — including facilities belonging to the Intelligence Ministry and the IRGC Intelligence Organization — by U.S. and Israeli warplanes. Iranian state media have so far refrained from reporting these casualties.

Also, a number of detainees arrested in various cities across Kurdistan Province (Sanandaj) have recently been transferred to security detention facilities in Hamedan Province. At the same time, more than 100 Iranian security and intelligence personnel were killed during recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting security installations in Sanandaj.

According to reports received by Hengaw, several detention centers and security facilities in Kurdistan Province sustained severe damage following recent airstrikes. Among the targeted sites were detention facilities operated by the Intelligence Ministry and the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj. As a result, a number of detainees previously held in these facilities have been transferred to detention centers in Hamedan Province.
Through conversations with several families of the detainees, Hengaw has learned that the transfers have taken place without informing families of the exact locations where their relatives are being held, raising serious concerns about the detainees’ safety and wellbeing.
The transfer of detainees to facilities far from their place of residence, combined with the lack of access to family members and legal counsel, constitutes a clear violation of international human rights standards as well as Iran’s own domestic legal regulations.

Hengaw expresses serious concern regarding the health and safety of these detainees and emphasizes that the Iranian security and judicial authorities bear full responsibility for the lives and wellbeing of all individuals in their custody.
Hengaw had previously reported that a number of detainees held in these facilities were also injured during the airstrikes and transferred to Kawsar Hospital in Sanandaj for treatment.
